The Cary Mews | Fan District
The Cary Mews project was a joint venture between Monument Construction and Sensi Development for redevelopment of an old warehouse along Cary Street just west of VCU in what is considered the Uptown Area of the city.
13 residential units were built with 7 developed in the warehouse and 6 built new on the adjacent lot. The new construction was a series of 3 towers designed in a very modern fashion by local architect David Johannas. They are striking and memorable and are a departure from the traditional warehouse renovation model used in most historic renovations projects post 2000.
The project is also unique in that all units focus onto a central courtyard inspired by the Mews-based renovations popular in the UK.
