Goochand County, especially the eastern half, is home to some of Richmond’s most sought after residential development. Estates and horse farms highlight the region’s residential stock of housing and contribute to the pastoral and bucolic imagery when most Richmonder’s think of Goochland.
Route 288, which runs along the border between Goochland and Henrico and connects points south of the James to those north, has brought considerable development pressure to the corridor. Access to public utilities along the Broad Street corridor and the Tuckahoe Creek Parkway has allowed for some denser residential development models to be employed and departs from the larger lot model prevalent in the remainder of the county.
